Our research shows that receiving treatment in a centre that had high recruitment to clinical trials was one of the best predictors of good outcomes for patients treated for head and neck cancer in the UK. This may be linked to the choice of and ability to deal with the complications of treatment regimens. Interestingly, treatment at a high-volume centre was not predictive for good outcomes. Given a choice get treated by clinical teams who participate heavily in clinical trials!
